How to Help
Search Dog Network is a 100% volunteer organization. Members volunteer their time & purchase their own equipment. While we are always on the lookout for new members, there are other ways to help.
Volunteer Victims: The best part of training for people is playing with the dogs. The best part of training for the dogs is playing with people. The only thing better for the dogs is playing with new people. A new person and a new scent makes training just a bit more interesting and exciting for everyone involved. If you need community service hours for school or work or just want to come hang out with some super excited dogs, consider volunteering to hide for our dogs.
Land Use: One of the most important aspects of search & rescue training is the location. The majority of our training sites are private ranches and farms that land owners allow us to use. Sites range from as little as 10 acres on the small side to larger parcels of 1000 acres or more. Sites should have a good mix of vegetation and open spaces.
Donations: Equipment or monetary donations are always appreciated. At this time the following are needed:
- Monetary donations for aquisition of equipment that will increase the safety and effectiveness of searches
- Monetary donations that will be restricted to support searches (travel, housing, medical, etc.)
